Miami to Cap-Haïtien Flights Explained

6 min read · Updated 2026

The whole reason travel to Northern Haiti works the way it does is Hugo Chávez International Airport in Cap-Haïtien, airport code CAP. It takes direct flights from South Florida, which means guests reach the north without ever transiting Port-au-Prince.

The route

Schedules and carriers on the South Florida–Cap-Haïtien route change from season to season, and seats sell out around the holidays and Carnival. Book your flight as early as you can once your rotation is confirmed, and check current schedules directly with the airline rather than assuming last year's timetable still holds.

Flights are not included

Our package price covers everything from arrival at Cap-Haïtien onward: transfers, lodging, all meals and drinks, excursions, and entertainment. Airfare is booked separately by each guest, which lets you use miles, choose your departure city, and extend your stay in Florida.

Choosing your flight times

  • Arrive as early in the day as you reasonably can. The transfer to Fort-Liberté is more pleasant in daylight, and you get the afternoon at the hotel.
  • Tell us your flight number and arrival time as soon as you book so the airport meet is arranged.
  • On departure day, allow a comfortable buffer. Plan for the transfer back plus airport time.
  • If you are connecting from another U.S. city, consider flying into Florida the night before rather than risking a same-day misconnect.

Baggage

Baggage allowances and fees are set by your airline, not by us, so check them when you book. Guests travelling with gifts for family in the north routinely bring a second checked bag; weigh it at home to avoid a surprise at the counter. Keep medication, documents, a change of clothes, and anything valuable in your carry-on.

Arrival at Cap-Haïtien

CAP is a small airport, which works in your favour. You will clear immigration, collect your bags, and pass through customs. Have your passport and your completed arrival paperwork ready, and know the name and address of where you are staying — Le Marien Hotel, Fort-Liberté.

Our representative meets guests inside the arrivals area with signage, so there is no negotiating with anyone on the curb. Once the group is together you board chartered transport for the drive east to Fort-Liberté.

The drive to Fort-Liberté

It is roughly an hour and a half through the northern plain, and it is a genuinely good introduction to the region: farmland, small market towns, and the coastline appearing as you approach the bay. Bring water and, if you are prone to motion sickness, take something before you leave the airport.

Going home

Departure transfers are coordinated as a group and timed to the flights of everyone in the rotation, so confirm your return flight details with us at check-in. Duty-free and food options at CAP are limited; eat at the hotel before you leave.

If you want help lining your flights up with a specific rotation, call (800) 509-1804 before you buy the ticket. It is easier to match a departure to a flight than the other way round.
